4,760 SF demolished · 4 in asphalt
20519 Wisteria Street
An apartment alley rebuilt from the base up: old pavement removed, a 140 LF concrete valley gutter poured, and 4,340 SF of new asphalt placed and sealed.
General Contractors · Dublin, CA
A 50,270 SF asphalt overlay across the paved areas of a new development, placed around fresh curbs, planters and high utility boxes.
This overlay went down on a development where the curbs, planters, sidewalks and utility boxes were already in place, so the new asphalt had to meet fixed edges rather than set its own. Once the work was measured against them, the utility boxes sat high and the perimeter needed more material than the original quantity covered.
A change order added 23 tons of asphalt to give a 6-inch curb reveal, so the edges were built up correctly instead of being left short.
Tack coat (SS-1h, about 440 gallons) went down ahead of the paver, then the 1.5 in lift of warm-mix asphalt followed. The paving train was a paver, two rollers and two skid steers with a sweeper, with trucks bringing mix from the plant: 27 loads over the job.
The estimated crew was ten: a foreman, six operators, a laborer, a driver/operator and a superintendent, scheduled for two weekdays.
The full 50,270 SF was overlaid to the 1.5-inch specification, with the extra material the edges and utility boxes needed handled by change order rather than left short.
